The first prize winner of the competition will perform with the Central New Jersey Orchestra under the direction of Michael Avagliano, orchestra conductor and director. The competition is open to New Jersey Residents and to Non-Residents who are between the ages of 17 and 35 as of October 27, 2017. The winner will be announced at the NJFS Flute Fair, October 28th.
All entrants must be prepared to play "Poem" by Charles Griffes (all editions accepted). A second selection of the entrant's choice is also required and must demonstrate a contrasting style.
All winners must be able to attend 3 rehearsals and the concert with the orchestra in order to audition. If you are out of state and too far away to attend, you may not audition. NJFS is not responsible for any fees involving travel or hotel expenses that may be incurred by the winner. Once the winner is selected, the winner will correspond directly with the orchestra director. The winner will give a bio and photo to the orchestra director and talk about rehearsal locations and all other pertinent information regarding the concert, directly with the orchestra director.
